Schwannoma
Gastric schwannoma (GS) is a rare neoplasm of the stomach deriving from Schwann cells of the peripheral nerves in the stomach. It is usually identified on CT imaging as a submucosal lesion in the stomach. On endsocopy they appears as a submucosal lesion in which biopsy may not provide the diagnosis and may also be misdiagnosed as a GIST. EUS with FNA is more sensitive for the diagnosis. Diagnosis is based on positivity for S-100. Schwannoma’s are usually slow growing tumors but surgical resection is needed for definitive treatment .
